Some Tips to Improve Slow Website Sales

I just received this article and had to pass it along. It's a good read and should be of great assistance to those off to a slow start. We have all been there and felt like our hard work wasn't paying off till that one pivital moment when you stumble across that one special niche and "BAM" it hits you right in the forehead.

Well, That one special niche is Ez20Now-TurboCharged! It has your marketing materials, It has a product people are looking for and it has follow up service. Enjoy the article and see how you can apply it to your business.

Some Tips to Improve Slow Website Sales

I've seen it many times. A new entrepreneur is excited because their website just went live after weeks, or even months, of hard work. But the excitement doesn't last long when they see that they have yet to make a sale. Or maybe they've only made one or two. They're not covering their expenses, and they're certainly not making enough to live on.

I make sure to tell them not to worry, because it's happened to all of us. Especially with a new website. And there is an answer. Or, I should say, a few answers.

There are some steps you can follow to make sure you are doing everything right to maximize your sales. Look through the list below. If you can say definitively that you have taken all of these steps, then you should see a big increase in your sales. Here you go:

1. Make sure there is a market for what you're selling
By now, you've probably heard a lot about finding your online niche. If you did your research properly, you should have found a market that has a problem that you can provide an answer for. That's probably the most important part of your business.

If you haven't done the proper research yet, get started now. Use a keyword tool like Nichebot or Wordtracker to find what people are searching for online. And visit the forums to see what people are talking about and what problems they need to solve.
Don't skip this step. It's important that internet users are going to want what you're selling or your whole business is lost before it even begins.

2. Make sure that you're selling something that solves their problem
If you've found the right niche, then you should have some idea about what their main problems are. Do some research to find out what they need to solve that problem, then offer it to them. That's the formula in a nutshell. Don't let your product stray from the main topic. Solve their problem, and you'll have success.

3. Make sure you're getting enough traffic
It's difficult to make a good decision about how effective your sales process is if you haven't had enough traffic to your website yet. I recommend waiting until you've had at least 1,000 visitors. Anything less and you won't really have enough data to work with. Be patient.

4. Find out where your traffic is coming from
It's important that you are getting targeted visitors to your website. Make sure that if you're using pay-per-click advertising you're bidding only on words that are right for your market. If you're selling cell phones, you don't want visitors who are searching for land line phones for their office. Remember who your visitor is.

5. Test different headlines
Your headline is the first thing your visitors see on your site. Make sure it's compelling and gets them to keep reading. How do you do that? Simply by testing different headlines and seeing which one works best.

You can do that by rewriting it every now and then and checking your stats, or you can split test your headlines using Google's website optimizer. Website optimizer is part of your Google adwords account. If you don't have an adwords account, you can get one free at http://adwords.google.com.

6. Make sure your sales copy is effective
The last thing you want to do once you have a visitor reading your sales copy is to distract them with something that isn't leading directly to a sale. In other words, leave out any links to other websites, forget about adsense and banner ads, and don't start talking about things that don't relate to your subject.

Concentrate on your sales message and proof elements, and dispelling any doubts they may have about giving you their money. This includes using testimonials if you have them, a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and good strong sales copy that keeps them interested all the way through to your "buy now" button.

7. Test different price points
It's hard to know what's the right price for your item right off the bat. You may have it at the price you're willing to pay, but that may not be the price everyone is willing to pay. A lot of people will expect to buy something in your market within a certain price range. If your price is too high, they'll shop elsewhere. If your price is too low, yes too low, they might think that what you're offering is of poor quality. You can answer this problem by simply trying out different prices to see what works best.

8. Make sure your order processing works properly and is easy to use
Test all of the links from your "add to cart" buttons all the way through to your "thank you" page. You can normally run a $0 test before you go live with most shopping cart and merchant account systems. Obviously, if your ordering system isn't working right, you're not going to see any sales.

Also, make sure that it's easy to use. Get a friend to run through it for you. It may make perfect sense to you, but that doesn't mean that it will for everyone. Let some other people try it out and see if they get stuck anywhere. Chances are good that if they do, then others will too. If everything isn't as easy as possible to use, then some people will just leave rather than trying to figure it out.

There you go. Eight steps you can follow with your site to make sure that you are maximizing your sales. Just from my own experience, anytime I was able to say that I went through all of the steps above completely, I saw significant improvement, and found good success with my website. I believe that you will, too. Good luck.

The Search Engines

I recommend you stay clear of Google PPC as you will probably lose money at this stage. I
know that every marketer on the planet talks about how you can go to Google, put in your
search terms and get targeted traffic looking for exactly what you are selling and make
money hand over fist. This can be true, but more often than not, you will spend more for that
traffic than you make. Over 90% of the users on Google PPC are losing money – don’t join
them unless you have a winning ad AND you feel that you know what you're doing.

Nonetheless, there is a way to harness the power of Google that is both very inexpensive,
extremely effective and most online marketers don’t even know it exists!

It’s called Site Targeted Advertising. Go to Google and type in some of the keywords that
would be used by a making-money online prospect for your product (in this case the
EZ20NOWTurboCharged System... but it will work for anything). In this scenario, type into
Google search, terms like “Make Money Online” and “Make Money From Home” etc. Then
start clicking on the listings you find on the first page of results – both the paid ads on the
right and the organic results in the main part of the page.

You are looking to see if they have Google Adsense ads which will be a block of ads with
links and the words “ads by Google” at the bottom.

I’m going to show you how you can get your ad not only on those same pages that are
getting first page Google results but also how you can “take over” that entire Google block so
that your ad gets shown completely alone...for super cheap!

You can pay an average of less than $5 per 1000 (impressions, or the number of times your
ad gets shown) to get your full-size ads shown of high traffic web pages that are showing up
on the first page of Google results where others are paying $1-3 a click.

Step 1: Use search terms in Google that relate to EZ20NOWTurboCharged as much as
possible, such as make money from home, make fast money etc.

Step 2: Look at the pages that show on Google’s first page of results and see if they have
Google Adsense ads (not ONLY Google Adsense ads) Those pages that only show Google
Adsense ads are a complete waste of time, you want real web pages with real content AND
have Google Adsense ads on them. Copy the URLs of those pages you find from the first
page search results into a notepad list.

Step 3: Go to Google and create an Adwords account then login to your account. If you
have a gmail account, you can use that user name and password to create your account. On
the right side of your screen, look for Create a New Campaign: and click the
“Placement Targeted” link.

Name your campaign and select your language and countries you want to
advertise in. Most of you will probably use English, USA, UK and Canada, but
you can pick what you feel will work best for your situation.

Create your ad. You can use the classified ads I outlined earlier as a starting
point or just be creative in constructing your own ads. You need to really “WOW”
the visitors to get them to click on your ad and leave the page they are reading.
(You can be flamboyant here – get ‘em to click!).

After you write your ad(s), Google will want you to identify the sites where you
want your ads to appear. You are provided with a tool that helps you find sites
where your ad can appear but you do not want to actually use the sites
recommended by this tool. Not that the tool lacks in any way, but you are
looking to be placed specifically on front-page ranking websites that come up
under your search terms...Google won't just be putting you there because their
nice.

For our purposes, you are going to “go through the steps”, and later you will
return and enter the authentic website URL’s from the list of target sites you put
together earlier. Select the button marked “Describe topics” and enter your main
keyword into the box on the right. Click “Get Available Placements” afterwards.

You will then see a list of sites. Locate the very first listing and click “Add”. You
don’t care what site it is – just add one from their list. Click “Continue” and you
will be taken to the Pricing Page. Select CPM and click “Continue”. (this means
you are going to pay a Fixed Dollar Amount for every 1000 times your ad is
displayed)

You'll then need to set your daily budget – whatever is good for you (meaning
whatever you can honestly afford), say $5-10 a day for example. You will also
need to set the maximum you are willing to pay for every 1000 displays of your
ad – again use $5-10.

Now, save your campaign and then go back to the Campaign Settings page and
click on your Campaign Name and then click on the tab that says “edit Placement
and Bids”.

Highlight and then delete whatever site you inserted earlier and now paste the list of URLs
(websites) in that you gathered when you did your research. You may see that some of the
sites you picked did not get accepted and are still in the lower box. Just delete those and
then Save Campaign.

It usually takes 3-5 days for your ads to start showing but just check back everyday to
monitor your progress and PLEASE don’t forget to have your daily budget set so that you
have no unpleasant surprises.

Alternate Search Engine

There are several search engines other than Google, Yahoo and MSN (the top 3).
Most of the other search engines are considered 2nd tier search engines that do not get
nearly the traffic and many are loaded with Click Fraud problems and should be avoided.
One that is worth a look is 7Search.com. It doesn’t get huge amounts of traffic but it’s “OK”
and many of the “good” search terms can still be bought for less than 10 cents per click.

Go to the site and click on the button for more information for advertisers, then compare or
see bids. Put in search terms like Make Money and it will return all of the related terms, the
average number of searches per month for each and what people are paying for the top
spots. I have a number of search terms that I personally use and they rank in the top 3
positions for less than 10 cents each – definitely check out this site..

One More Search Site

This is a real sleeper. Not huge amounts of traffic but at only $4 a month for a guaranteed
featured listing you really can’t go wrong. I’m referring to ExactSeek.com and you can read
the details on their program here: http://exactseek.com/featured_listings.html

OK – That wraps it up and should give you more than enough ammo to get your marketing
campaign going and making money. In addition, don't forget you still have a huge resource of
marketing and promotional tools that can grow your bank account even more!

Forum Posting

Common practice is a person can go to forums that are related to the product they are
offering and by posting in those forums will get good exposure to people that might be buyers.

Not a bad idea to go that route, but I have come to the conclusion that you don’t need to be that limited. Yes, you can go to all the “Make Money” type forums and get your exposure but those are very crowded with other promoters doing the same thing which can lead to lots of competition and getting lost in a virtual sea of others.

But again, if you create some very effective ads, you can still find interested prospects.

You can stand out from the crowd with your Crazy Domain Name (hence why I suggest
getting one of those too), but you can also think outside the box a little here as well. One good thing about working in the “Make Money” market is that almost everyone is a prospect! Not true if you were selling information on sewing, or wood-working. Those types of niche markets have limited groups of interested people.

However, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't be interested in a simple way to make more money. This means that you can go to all kinds of forums, staying within areas that personally interest you, get involved in discussions, leave an interesting signature with a link to your website and you can still find buyers for your product.

To accomplish this, especially if it's NOT a “make money” forum, you have to use a
“signature”. Most forums allow you to create or have what is called a Signature Block with your name and a link in it and this block will appear below any and every post you make. I suggest you also think of a short, “headline-like” teaser line to put above your link to get a signature block like:

Your Forum Name
“Have a website that's a $20 MAGNET”
www.FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com

So, if you were posting in a sewing forum you might end up with something like:
“I'm not sure which would be the best method to stitch leather and suede...blah, blah, blah

Wendy
“Have a website that's a $20 MAGNET”
www.FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com

Working on the philosophy that people will see that and almost be forced to click on it to see what it’s about is the goal. They may or may not be interested in your offer but it didn’t cost you a cent to find out.

Forums can provide a lot of free traffic to your website. Below is a link to 101 forums in the “Making Money” field but, many are filled with seasoned online marketers that may know a lot more than you. Don't let that discourage you however, I just want you to know what to expect.

101 Making-Money Forums

To find other forums in other areas of personal interest to you, try Google and type in your keywords. You may actually do better by sticking with forums that you really have an interest in and perhaps already belong to.

Forum Posting could be one of your very best sources of traffic if done properly. You have to be careful not to SPAM by posting obvious ads as they will probably be deleted and quite possibly your account, should you continue SPAMMING.

I generate a lot of money by participating in forums that I enjoy and having an interesting signature block that people want to click on to see more about who I am – Like this: My Forum Name – “incredibly easy money” www.FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com

Don’t Forget About Your Emails...
A signature block such as we discussed above can also be used for your
email signature. This is very easy to do with Outlook Express or any of the
other major email programs so that all your outgoing emails will have a very subtle
curiosity item at the bottom. Just make it a teaser line, not a sales pitch.

To Your Success,
Kim

Very Important First Point

I may repeat this a thousand times and it is of the utmost importance to always remember what your number one goal is at every level of the marketing cycle.

It may seem very obvious, but 90% either forget this or don't realize it... Your primary goal in the marketing of your new business will be "exposure" -- this could be an ad on Craigslist, a comment in a forum, an email signature, or something else (don't worry about the specifics now, we'll discuss the “whats and wheres” later -- just bear with me for a moment).

YOUR OBJECTIVE IN THE PRIMARY LEVEL is always to get people to your website... that's it!!

You aren't trying to convince anyone your program is the greatest, you are the brightest, or your kids are the most adorable -- none of that -- you just want them to click through to your website...NOTHING MORE!

I can tell you from years of trial and error, that one of the quickest and easiest ways to get that to happen is through your choice of domain names. Regardless of what the advertising medium may be...ad, forum post, email signature whatever, if one ends with www.GetRichToday.com and the other with www.OneEyedMonkey.com ... which do you think has better curiosity appeal?

The first sounds like everyone else's boring website promising you overnight success while the curiosity caused by the second is almost impossible to resist. Although it is not “required”, and you can go any route you wish, I recommend that you get a interest piquing domain name to use (in addition to a domain name that's close to EZ20NowTurboCharged) as part of your marketing strategy.

In the past I have used .info names which cost less, but so many spammers have bought these cheap domains to use as “disposable domains” that they have developed a negative reputation. So because of that fact, I now recommend that you get a standard .com domain which will only cost you about $10 a year.

I prefer to use http://Mister.net, they have great 24/7 customer service and their layout is easy to learn so you can maintain your own website, but you can use whomever you desire.

As a side-note: if you'd like for me to set your website up, it's much easier if you register your domain name and hosting through http://Mister.net. I'm very familiar with how they work and they really do offer a quality service with rock-solid support.

You can either click the link above, or the link on the page you were redirected to if you purchased EZ20NOWTurboCharged. Once you set your account up, send me an email and I can make your website live. But please, read through this guide first BEFORE you go do that. I do charge $20 for this service.

Also, as far as domains names are concerned. You should purchase a domain name as close to EZ20NOWTurboCharged as possible, but it wouldn't hurt to purchase a non-typical name like I mentioned above that you can use to forward to your primary EZ20NOW-like domain name? Why? Because it's nice to have a couple different options for directing people to your website and to leave as signatures in your emails etc. (we'll talk about that in another blog).

But realize that you really only need to purchase ONE domain name. So take my advice, as I have run several tests using the same ad and headline and have concluded that if one ends with www.GetRichToday.com and another ends with a domain name like www.OneEyedMonkey.com that the results will be at least 500% better for the One Eyed Monkey domain.

The curiosity factor just makes it almost impossible not to click on it to see what the heck a domain with such a crazy name it is all about. Choose a name that has a lot of VISUAL IMAGE to it – like you want to “SEE” it.

Examples of domains that I have seen work are: FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com ButterOn-a-BaldMonkey.com You get the point... I have seen ads run with domains like those that get good traffic without ever really saying anything like: Too Weird but seeing is believing www.FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com

Another worth-while point to mention...notice how I capitalized the first letter of every word in the domain names above? Web browsers and Domain Name Servers (DNS) are not case sensitive so it makes little difference if you capitalize all, some or none – they will all still go to the same webpage.

What's important to note however, is that the human eye is case sensitive and FlyingGreenMonkeyFeet.com is easier to read than flyinggreenmonkeyfeet.com, so always capitalize the first letter of each word when you are writing your domain name.

After you have purchased your Crazy Domain Name (or which ever domain you want to load your actual website on if you have more than one), then you will be ready to upload your website once you purchase a Domain Hosting Plan.

Again, we haven't covered that topic. But as stated in some of my other literature and the EZ20NOWTurboCharged download page, there is a solution for you that I can provide if you need assistance.

If you do need website hosting and someone to make your new website “live” and you use the http://Mister.net link on my download page, or here, I will set your website up for you for a small fee.

Well, That's all for today, if you have any questions or tips please post them here. I'll be glad to answer them.
